The 10-Minute Body Transformation
As a demonstration to show how easily fitness pictures can be manipulated, I did a 10-minute body transformation presenting the different changes you can make in a 'before' and 'after photo, in order to make the 'progress' look much better. 1. Shave Body Hair Getting rid of that fluff on your midsection instantly makes you appear leaner than before as it's easier to see any definition. I did a quick do-over with an old electric shaver I had. 2. Instant Tan If you are pasty white like I am, you will benefit a lot from using an instant tan. The darker skin tone shows more definition once again, which is why you see professional bodybuilders cake themselves in dark spray tan before a show. 3. Style Hair Particularly with men, their hair will be long and messy like they've been following Boris Johnson style tips. Then, the 'after' pic they'll have freshly cut hair that is well styled. Again you'd like to associate this with simply the fact the person is feeling better about their own image so go get their hair done nicely but it's another easy manipulation tactic. Why does this matter? A cleaner haircut and overall look will make the transformation appear all that more effective. Image is everything. 4. Apply Oil Another thing bodybuilders do before a show is apply oil to, once again, show all those definition lines. 5. Get a Pump If you've lifted weights before, you know all about the powers of the pump. That is as you exercise a muscle group, it will become 'inflated' in comparison to what it was before, although this effect is temporary. It's like getting a semi-erection to make your pecker look bigger. 6. Improve Lighting Lighting plays a huge part in having a good picture. Test this out, taking a topless picture in regular lighting before moving into somewhere that has light shining down on to you, like a bathroom. You will immediately notice the improvements in the appearance of your wonderful gains. This is exactly why you see so many bathroom selfies and gym selfies. They have great lighting. 7. Improve Posture You'll notice in a 'before' picture the person is usually slouched over with poor posture. Whether that's their usual posture that gets corrected from the benefits of training back and rear delts would be on an individual case basis. I see many 'before' pictures however which have an overly exaggerated slouch. 8. Smile Another part of a 'before' pic you will notice is that they always look absolutely miserable. The 'after' pic will show them with a big smile. They have cured their depression because they now look so good YAY. 9. FLEX! One of the biggest changes you'll see is going from a relaxed front pose to actually suck in and flex your abs, along with your shoulders, lats and arms to create a more exaggerated 'V-taper' whilst looking more ripped. 10. Use Instagram Effects 'Lux' and 'Sharpness' That is all the physical changes we'll make but we are not quite finished yet. For our 'after' pic we can make a couple of edit on the effects of the picture. You can do this on your regular phone album under 'edit' or you can do it on Instagram. The two that seemingly have the most effect are 'Lux' which gives you an even bigger tan, along with 'warmth'. As well as increasing 'sharpness' which will make you look more defined once again. It's easy to think twice now when you see a good transformation picture about whether they have been taking in exact like for like settings and poses. Of course many are likely real but watch out for any extra manipulation being used to exaggerate the efficacy of something. You can also make use of these tips next time you're wanting to take a nice picture of yourself anyway. or to look better in general, keeping your body hair trimmer, with a consistent tan alone will go a long way to improving your look.
